For more than 40 years Homer Methodist has sponsored the county’s only Scouting program.  Boy Scout Troop 106 and Cub Scout Pack 106.  Both are among the largest in the Council and enjoy the finest among adult leadership.  The Scouts benefit from one of the most complete “huts” found anywhere, located in the wilderness near Homer, where they regularly hold their meetings.  The Pack hold its monthly meetings at the church’s Don Stewart Hall downtown. Tom Nix is scoutmaster of Troop 106.
This weekly gathering (Wednesday at 6:00 p.m.) of children and youth at the Family Life Center is one of the finest organizations in the community for young people and attracts large numbers from the smallest children to students at Banks County High School.  The group meets for supper and a well-planned program which often includes outreach to the community.  Members are faithful to invite friends to participate in this exciting activity.
